WHAT ARE COOKIES?

personalise the services offered by the website owner, facilitate navigation through the website and its usability, obtain aggregate information of website visitors, enable the playback and display of multimedia content on the website itself, allow interaction between the user and the website, enable security tools, etc.
DEFINITIONS USED IN THIS COOKIES POLICY
Data: The information obtained by means of the user’s terminal equipment using data storage and retrieval technologies (cookies or other means). The data will be personal when it concerns information about identified or identifiable natural persons, pursuant to Article 4 of the Spanish Data Protection Agency’s General Register of Data Protection (RGPD).
Aggregate information: anonymous information, typically numerical and for the purpose of providing statistical information
Terminal equipment: The device from which the user accesses the service, such as a personal computer, mobile phone, tablet, etc., and from which the information is obtained
Editor: person responsible for, or owner of, the website
Third-party: external entity, collaborator, service provider or other entity related to the editor, involved in the management of some cookies
Entity responsible for the cookie: the editor, manager, owner of the website or even the third party in some cases
Browsing habits: trends demonstrated by the user when browsing a web page, such as time spent visiting the page, parts of the website visited, most frequent sections, origin of the visit, destination of the visit, among others.
WHAT TYPES OF COOKIES ARE THERE?
According to the entity managing them:
- First-party Cookies: Those sent to the user’s terminal equipment from a computer or domain managed by the editor themselves and from which the service requested by the user is provided.
- Third-party cookies: those sent to the user’s terminal equipment from a computer or domain that is not managed by the editor, but by another entity that processes the data obtained through cookies.
According to the period of time that they remain activated in the terminal equipment:
- Session cookies: those designed to collect and store data while the user accesses a web page. They are usually used to store information that is only pertinent to providing the service requested by the user on a single occasion (for example, products in a shopping cart) and disappear when the session ends.
- Persistent cookies: are those in which data are still stored on the terminal and can be accessed and processed during a period defined by the person responsible for the cookie, which can range from a few minutes to several years.
According to the end use of the data obtained through cookies:
- Technical cookies: are those that allow the user to navigate through a web page, platform or application and use the various options or services that it offers, including those that the editor uses to allow the management and operation of the website and enable its functions and services, such as, for example, controlling traffic and data communication, identifying the session, accessing areas with restricted access, remembering the items that make up an order, carrying out the order purchasing process, managing payment, monitoring fraud linked to the security of the service, requesting to register or participate in an event, counting visits for the purposes of producing invoices for licenses for the software on which the service depends (website, platform or application), using security elements while browsing, storing content for the playback of video or audio, enabling dynamic content (for example, loading animations for text or images) or sharing content via social networks. Also in this category, due to their technical nature, are cookies that allow the management, in the most efficient way possible, of advertising space that, as another design element or “layout” belonging to the service offered to the user, the editor may have included on a web page, application or platform based on criteria such as edited content, without any information being collected from users for other purposes, such as the customisation of that advertising, or any other, content.
- Preference or personalisation cookies: are those that allow information to be remembered so that when a user accesses a service, they are offered an experience which can be differentiated from that of other users, such as, for example, in terms of language, the number of results displayed when the user performs a search, the appearance or content of the service depending on the type of browser the user uses to access the service or the region from which the user accesses the service, etc.
- Analysis or measurement cookies: are those that allow the person responsible for them to monitor and analyse the behaviour of the users of the websites to which they are linked, including the quantification of ad impact. The information collected through this type of cookie is used to measure the activity of the websites, applications or platforms, in order to introduce improvements based on the analysis of data concerning how users use the service.
- Advertising cookies: are those that allow the management, in the most efficient way possible, of the advertising space that, where applicable, the editor has included on a web page, application or platform from which the requested service is provided based on criteria such as edited content or how often ads are shown.
- Behavioural advertising cookies: are those that allow the management, in the most efficient way possible, of advertising space that, where applicable, the editor has included on a web page, application or platform from which the requested service is provided. These cookies store information on the behaviour of users obtained through the continuous observation of their browsing habits, which allows specific profiling to take place and which decides the advertising to be displayed.
